Priyanka Chopra Shares Sentimental Post About Meeting Hubby Nick Jonas at the 2017 Met Gala
Who doesn’t love a good full circle moment? With the 2019 Met Gala only hours away, Priyanka Chopra took to her Instagram Story on Sunday, May 5, to remind fans that she and hubby Nick Jonas actually met at the event in 2017.
While technically speaking, Nick and Priyanka had their first face-to-face encounter at the 2017 Vanity Fair Oscars party a few months before, their conversation lasted a mere five minutes. So, really, the Met Gala seems like a way better starting point. Plus, between that time, the couple only communicated via text. Which, let’s face it, isn’t exactly the most romantic story to pass along to your little ones.
“The story I’ll definitely tell our future kids,” the actress, 36, captioned a snapshot of the pair on the red carpet, along with, “How I MET your father.” OK, yeah, we are fully in tears — and absolutely living for that pun.
At the time, Priyanka and Nick, 26, were just friends. However, their appearance together immediately sparked romance rumors. In fact, shortly after the gala, Priyanka sat down for an interview with Jimmy Kimmel where the TV host flat out asked the brunette beauty if she and Nick were dating.
“We were both wearing Ralph Lauren! And we decided to go together because it was fun,” Priyanka explained. “We were at the same table. We know each other so we were like, ‘Hey you know what, let’s go together.’ And I was like, ‘OK. Let’s go together!’ It just ended up working out,” she added.
Working out? Ummm, you can say that again, girl. Priyanka and Nick ended up getting engaged just a little over a year later. Of course, the gorgeous couple then went on to celebrate their timeless love with an over-the-top, three-day wedding in December 2018.
As for starting their family? While both Nick and Priyanka have expressed wanting children, they’re pumping the baby making breaks for now. “Nick and Priyanka aren’t in a rush to start a family. They are really happy right now and decided they want to wait a few years before they start having children,” an insider revealed to Life & Style.
