Is Joan Vassos Engaged After ‘Golden Bachelorette’? Spoilers About Who She Chose, How Season 1 Ends

Joan Vassos’ season of The Golden Bachelorette is winding down and fans are curious about how everything will play out. Ahead of the November 13, 2024, finale, spoilers reveal Joan’s fate. WARNING: Spoilers for season 1 of The Golden Bachelorette ahead.

Is Golden Bachelorette’s Joan Vassos Engaged?

Joan is engaged to Chock Chapple after The Golden Bachelorette, which was confirmed during the season finale on November 13, 2024.

“Joan, you will never be invisible to me. I’m gonna tell you that I love you everyday. I promise that. And I look into those gorgeous eyes and I just can’t believe this is happening,” Chock said during the final rose ceremony. “I still think I’m in a dream and I’m just gonna wake up. But Joan, I love you. And I want you to be in my life.”

After Chock promised to love Joan for the rest of his life, she admitted that she saw a future with him during their first one-on-one date to Disneyland. Meanwhile, her feelings grew even deeper when he briefly left the show following his mom’s death.

“We are living proof that no matter what life throws at you, that there is still hope,” Joan told him. “Even at our age.”

In September 2024, the television blogger first reported that Chock was Joan’s final pick. However, at the time, he was not able to confirm if they were engaged. On November 5, 2024, he reported the engagement news, but noted that he wasn’t sure where Joan and Chock were planning to live since he’s from Kansas and she lives in Maryland.

Joan previously admitted that she never planned on relocating to be with someone. “I think you almost have to live a dual life,” she told CNN in May 2024. “I’ll never leave my family. They are the most important people in the world to me, obviously. I would expect that to be the same for the person that I end up with because family is so important to me. That would have to be a key part of their personality.”

In addition to Chock, the other man in Joan’s final 2 is Guy Gansert. She spent time away from the cameras with both Chock and Guy during fantasy suites week. Steve actually initially reported that Guy was the winner of Joan’s season, but later updated his spoilers to name Chock as the winner.

Joan did not have a final 3 rose ceremony because Pascal Ibgui self-eliminated during his one-on-one date with Joan. He admitted that he didn’t feel a “spark” with the Maryland resident and said that he wasn’t “in love” with her.

Was Golden Bachelorette’s Joan Vassos Married?

Joan was previously married to her first husband, John Vassos, for 32 years. John died in 2021 after battling pancreatic cancer for two years. “It’s a terrible, terrible cancer,” Joan said on The Golden Bachelorette. “He went from 220 pounds to 120 pounds. I, for some reason, was living in a dream world. He was dying and I was pretending it wasn’t happening. I just couldn’t accept that he wasn’t going to be here anymore. He was getting worse.”

John died at home while Joan was in another room. “I wasn’t there with him, which I feel terrible about,” she shared. “But, once again, I thought he was gonna live. I sat there with him for a minute and I said a few prayers.”

The couple had four children together: Nicholas, Erica, Allison and Luke.

Meanwhile, Chock was married to first wife Heather, whom he shares two children with, for 12 years. He then got engaged to Katherine “Kathy” Elizabeth White Goree, but she died in 2022 after battling brain cancer.
