Jessica Alba and Cash Warren ‘Turned to Experts’ to Help Kids Amid Split: ‘It’s a Very Sad Time’
Jessica Alba is doing her utmost to stay strong in the wake of her divorce from Cash Warren, and a source exclusively tells Life & Style they’re both finding a huge amount of comfort in the arms of their beloved kids – who are keeping them focused and at peace while they work out the details of their split.
The couple, who wed in 2008 while they were in their 20s, share three children together: daughters Honor, 16, and Haven, 13, and one son, Hayes, 7. Jessica, 43, and Cash, 46, celebrated their 16th wedding anniversary in May 2024, with a sentimental post about the strength of their relationship, writing, “There is no real set of rules or guidance that can ever prepare you for what it means to commit to another person and choose to be family. Through thick and thin we have continually found our way back to each other and have chosen one another.”
Though, just a few weeks early, Jessica had opened up about how loveless their marriage had truly become. “It’s all rosy for 2 ½ years, but then after that, you become roommates,” she joked with host Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt on the “BDA Baby” podcast. “And it’s just, like, you’re roommates. You’re just going through the motions. It’s the responsibility. It’s a lot of, like, checking the boxes.”
“We’re on 17 years. He basically stole my 20s and my 30s,” the Trigger Warning star continued. “So, we have the friendship and the comfort of, like, ‘You’re not going anywhere,’ and so, sometimes, you don’t treat those people the best. You don’t consider their feelings in the way that you would consider other people’s feelings.”
But by January 2025, the actress declared they were set to take “on a new chapter of growth and evolution as individuals,” and that their “children remain our highest priority,” as TMZ reported their plans to divorce.

Despite the split, the source notes “they’re both determined to keep everything extremely amicable for the kids,” so much so, “they’ve turned to the experts to help them navigate this with as much honesty and open communication as possible.”
“They are checking in with them constantly and mourning the loss of ‘the way things were’ alongside them, but also painting a picture of a very bright future where they are all still totally connected as a family.”
While flames may seem like the inevitable end of a big chunk of Hollywood marriages, there are some cases of splits being ultimately for the better, especially if the two can coparent successfully.
“Jessica is close with Gwyneth Paltrow, so she’s certainly got a great example to follow, what she and Chris [Martin] have accomplished is beautiful,” the insider adds. “That’s the goal for Jessica and Cash, they want to be able to still share quality time with their kids together as a family unit.”
“They are both aware that they’re not just making a big change in their lives, this is upending their kids’ lives too so they’re both giving a lot of extra attention to them right now. It’s a very sad time, but they’re committed to getting through this and turning it into as positive an experience as possible.”
