Jessica Simpson ‘Doing Better’ Amid Eric Johnson Separation as She Goes House Hunting in L.A.

Moving on … literally! Jessica Simpson is house hunting for a new home in Los Angeles as she’s reportedly feeling “better” amid her split from estranged husband Eric Johnson.

“Jessica has been focusing on herself and wellbeing since the separation,” a source told Us Weekly on Wednesday, February 12, adding the singer, 44, is “doing better each day.”

“She is house hunting in L.A. [and] figuring out where she will begin her new chapter with the kids,” the insider continued. The former couple shares daughters Maxwell, 12, and Birdie Mae, 5, as well as son Ace, 11.

Jessica confirmed her separation from Eric, 46, in a January 13 statement after months of speculation that their nearly 10-year marriage was in trouble.

“Eric and I have been living separately navigating a painful situation in our marriage,” she told People. “Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them. We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way, and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family.”

Two days before announcing her split, Jessica decided to also part ways with the Hidden Hills, California, mansion she’s owned since 2013.

According to real estate records obtained by In Touch, the “Irresistible” songstress placed her 7-bedroom, 13-bathroom, 13,274 square foot mansion for sale on January 11 at the price of $17,900,000.

Jessica originally purchased the home from Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, snapping it up for $11,500,000 the year Ace was born.

The accessories designer listed the home for sale in September 2023 for $22 million. In August 2024, Jessica removed the listing from the market. However, the property is now listed as “active” and for sale.

The pop star is turning her attention to new music amid her split, teasing things to come after relocating her family to Nashville, Tennessee, in 2023 for a time to jump start her singing career.

Jessica shared a series of photos wearing earphones and singing into a microphone in a February 1 Instagram post. Four days later she shared pictures looking glam and gorgeous inside a recording studio with the caption, “Music bursts through my soul and makes me smile …”

The entrepreneur teased a new song on the way in a Wednesday, February 12, Instagram post, writing, “Boy howdy … do I have a snack for y’all tomorrow …”

A source exclusively told Life & Style on January 20 that Jessica is itching to make a big music comeback.

“First and foremost, Jessica is a survivor. She’s still famous, 25 years into the game, she still makes a lot of money and people still care about what’s going on in her life,” the insider shared. “Music is not her main moneymaker right now, and that’s OK. But she still has an itch to scratch in that department and, knowing her, she would kill for the chance to do a Super Bowl halftime show or a big Christmas TV special where she does nothing but sing.”

“It was never her dream to be a business mogul or a reality TV star, but it was always her dream to be a pop star and have songs on the radio,” the source added. “That dream is still alive, and Jessica sees an opportunity!”
