She figured it out! Former pop star Jessica Simpson is pregnant and expecting her third child with husband, former NFL star Eric Johnson. But even though this isn’t the mama’s first rodeo, it seems like it’s the first time she’s experiencing the very common pregnancy symptom of very swollen feet. Earlier this month, Jessica took to Instagram to ask fans for advice about how to deal with the swelling and she took to her page on Saturday, January 19, to share the secret she used to help relieve her feet.
“Cupping 🙌,” the 38-year-old wrote in the caption of her foot undergoing the treatment. In the shot, Jessica had three vacuum cups on either side of her ankles and the top of her left foot — and the new mama-to-be showed off a sparkly, gold pedicure at the same time.
In a second photo, Jessica showed the results of her cupping procedure. “SKANKLES aka Skinny Ankles 😜,” the singer wrote in the caption. It’s unclear if Jessica’s swelling is due to any kind of pregnancy complications.
Cupping is an ancient form of alternative medicine, according to WebMD. During a cupping therapy session, cups are placed onto the skin for minutes at a time to create suction. Cupping recently became trendy again after swimmer Michael Phelps competed in the 2016 Olympics with the after-effects of cupping — multiple round, bruise-like dots — all over his body. It’s said that cupping helps with pain, inflammation, it can increase blood flow and can also be used as a deep tissue massage.
Jessica announced that she is expecting baby No. 3 in September, as she already shares Maxwell, 6, and Ace, 5, with her hubby. Sources previously revealed to Life & Style that the mama is thoroughly enjoying her third pregnancy and has no problem with eating for two.
“She has already gained around 20 pounds,” the insider revealed, adding that she’s not afraid to pack on the pounds during this pregnancy. “Jessica managed to lose the baby weight before with her other two kids and she knows she can do it again.”
