No tea, no shade, but Kaitlyn Bristowe has some serious explaining to do after calling Hannah Brown the “least-deserving” star of The Bachelorette on May 12. Luckily, the franchise alum is already embarking on an apology tour two days later. Well, kind of. But she is clarifying the “miscommunication.” During an appearance on E!’s LadyGang TV show, the Canadian beauty played a game called the Wheel of Cheap Wine. According to the rules, she had to answer a tough question or take a shot of hot wine. When asked which of the Bachelorettes was the “least deserving” of the role, the star was put in a sticky spot.

Always down for some fun, Kaitlyn, 33, decided to answer the question rather than opt out. However, she says she attempted to answer it as politically as possible — but some of her answer got cut. In a video shared to Instagram on May 14, she explained, “I wish I would’ve just taken the shot, but instead, I tried to find a loophole. … What I said was, ‘Me. I was.’ And I said all the ladies deserve it. They edited that out and I said, ‘Fine. Hannah B.’ Only because we hadn’t seen her season yet so I thought it was my way out of answering the question. … I’m sorry that this got taken out of context.”

As everyone knows, I too am very far from perfect. But this misunderstanding I have to address. As I said in the Bachelorette Reunion, I think Hannah is going to be one of the greatest Bachelorettes in history. I stand by that. She’s unapologetically herself, relatable, and owns the hell out of who she is as a person. I should know by now that editing of a show can cause hate towards me. And I’ve been receiving a lot of that. Sometimes I can brush things off, and I will always admit if I deserve it. But when I’m being accused of bashing other women, I need to explain. I had an absolute meltdown today due to negative comments, and headlines. I just want people to hear this from me. Media will run with stories but this just simply isn’t true. #TheBachelorette

Instead, she’s making sure that everyone knows that she thinks Hannah will be one of the best Bachelorettes. “As I said in the Bachelorette reunion, I think Hannah is going to be one of the greatest Bachelorettes in history,” she continued. “I stand by that. She’s unapologetically herself, relatable, and owns the hell out of who she is as a person.” She even posted the clip from the reunion as proof — and, TBH, we believe her. This may have been one heck of a misunderstanding, but it’s clear that KB is nothing if not supportive of her girl Hannah.
