Alexa, play “Bad Romance.” On Tuesday, February 19, Lady Gaga and her fiancé of four months, Christian Carino, suddenly ended their engagement. While the breakup may still come as a surprise to many, this pattern is hardly unusual for the Oscar nominee, 32. In fact, Gaga admitted over two years ago that she has a difficult time balancing her romantic relationships with her larger than life career.

“It’s a sad day when I’m doing the Super Bowl and I’m so excited to do it, but I can’t help but realize that when I sold 10 million records, I lost Matt [Williams]. I sold 30 million, I lose Luc [Carl]. I get the movie [A Star Is Born], I lose Taylor [Kinney],” the pop icon confessed in the 2017 hit Netflix documentary Gaga: Five Foot Two. “It’s like a turnover.”

Sigh. The plight of being a modern, successful woman is real, y’all. In addition to Gaga’s previous admission, there were, unfortunately, plenty of other clues that she and Christian, 50, were headed for splitsville. For starters, when the blonde beauty took the stage at the Grammy Awards, fans couldn’t help but notice that she wasn’t wearing her engagement ring.

To make matters worse, the fashion designer didn’t even attend the show with Gaga. We don’t know about you guys, but if Lady freakin’ Gaga is your soon-to-be wife, you drop everything you’re doing and go the Grammys with her. Point blank, period. The cherry on top? Well, the A Star Is Born actress thanked co-star Bradley Cooper during her speech … and completely left out all mention of Christian. Yikes.

Finally, after Gaga ignored Christian’s existence on Valentine’s Day, everyone knew it was pretty much a done deal. As much as we loved the pair together, it’s safe to say that Gaga’s future is endlessly bright. Keep thriving, girl.
