OMGLiam Hemsworth Reveals Why He and Miley Cyrus Decided to Finally Tie the Knot!
And now we know. Actor Liam Hemsworth got candid about his recent marriage to Miley Cyrus and revealed to Sunday TODAY why he and the 26-year-old singer decided it was finally time to lock things down for good after 10 years of dating.
“We’ve been through so much together over the last 10 years, so [I] felt like it was time,” the 29-year-old told the outlet in a sneak peek for the interview which is set to air on February 16. “I feel really happy and really fortunate to be with such a great person.” These two are always showing each other love and it is seriously cute. The “honeymoon phase” is real, y’all!
As far as their wedding, it was exactly the small affair they wanted. “It was a really special day,” the Aussie said. “It was pretty much just immediate family.” The small ceremony took place on December 23, 2018, in Nashville, and was confirmed by a few sweet pics posted to Instagram by the couple and family.
The couple can be pretty elusive, but they’re just trying to keep to themselves and make things work. “We just try to keep as much of it private as we can,” he explained to the outlet. “There’s a lot of things we can’t control, obviously.”
But the best way to do it, according to the actor, is “not buying into the things that are said about us.” Fair enough.
Liam also revealed on an appearance on Live with Kelly and Ryan on February 8 that Miley had taken his last name shortly after their nuptials. “She will still be obviously known as Miley Cyrus, but she took my name, which is great,” he explained. “That was honestly one of the best things about it. I didn’t ask her to take my name, but she was like, ‘No, of course, I’m taking your name.'”
Cue the tears. The couple met just over 10 years ago while filming the romance film The Last Song and we could only hope we’ll have a love as monumental as they do. We love seeing this come full circle for them. Congrats again, kiddos. You did it!
