Given the incredible success of season 1, it was no surprise that Netflix gave season 2 and later, season 3, the green light. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, filming for season 2 got pushed back quite a bit. However, new episodes hit Netflix in July 2021. Season 3 will be available to stream on Netflix on February 23, 2023.
“Ever since we started, we always viewed it as something that was probably like a four-season, maybe five-season show, but definitely four seasons,” showrunner Jonas Pate told Entertainment Weekly during an April 2020 interview. “We’ve sort of long-arced it out pretty far. I’m just hoping that we get a chance to actually tell those stories.”
Of course, Madelyn’s storyline — and personal life! — has changed so much since Outer Banks first came out. Although she and onscreen boyfriend Chase Stokes, who plays John B., dated for more than a year before calling it quits, they still have a solid working relationship.
“Whether you’re an accountant, whether you work in marketing or you’re an engineer, if you work with your partner, you kinda gotta put it all aside and just go to work and do your job,” Chase previously told Life & Style. “It works out.”
