Can you believe ANYONE told the "Zero Dark Thirty" actress that she was "ugly"?! Neither can we — but it happened to her during her younger years.

"[As a child] I was told every day at school that I was ugly. And that no one wanted to be my friend. The most cruel things," she told the November 2014 issue of Glamour. "If I can do anything to help young girls and to be a cheerleader for people who sometimes have low self-esteem, I want to do that."

When the Masters of Sex star was starting off as an actress and auditioned for roles on several now-defunct WB shows, she was told she wasn't pretty enough!

"[My friend Lindsay Sloane and I] wanted to get T-shirts made that said, 'I AM WB PRETTY!' because we'd just been told, 'Oh, she's great, but she doesn't have that WB look.'" she told Los Angeles Confidential.
