Meghan Markle’s Dad Thomas Reportedly Thinks She ‘Will Be A Great Mother’ And Hopes To Reconcile
Despite everything, Meghan Markle‘s father Thomas Markle would still love to be an active grandfather for the duchess’ upcoming bundle of joy. At least, that’s how it sounds on Oct. 20 after a report claimed that he thinks she’ll be a fantastic mom and still wants to make amends with his daughter.
It all began when fans realized that Thomas probably didn’t learn from the media that Meghan was expecting her first child with Prince Harry, and many thought she or her mom Doria Ragland may have told him the happy news themselves. While Thomas is often quick to run to the press to share his thoughts, he has yet to speak out about Meghan’s baby, which seems like a good step into repairing the trust broken in their relationship.
Earlier this week, The Sun journalist Dan Wootton was interviewing the incredibly outspoken Samantha Markle — Meg’s half-sister — and she was allegedly texting Thomas from the interview. Dan said that Thomas told Samantha he was “very excited about the news” and “he later wrote to Meghan to say she will be a great mother.” That’s so sweet!
Samantha herself, despite publicly shading Meghan multiple times, seems to want to change her tumultuous relationship with her sister. “It just makes everything that happened over the last year disappear,” she said, of the pregnancy. “I want Meghan to be happy and calm and have peace.”
While Meghan now seems completely estranged from her father, that wasn’t always the case. As a matter of fact, she seemed closer than ever with her dad on Father’s Day 2016. “I’m still your buckaroo, and to this day your hugs are still the very best in the whole wide world,” she wrote on an Instagram post dedicated to her “daddy.” She also credited him for her great work ethic, and for teaching her the “importance of handwritten thank you notes.” She also appreciated inheriting “that signature Markle nose.” At the end, she wrote: “I love you xo – Bean.”
While Meghan is incredibly close with her mom Doria, we’re sure she would love to have both parents in her life. Perhaps this baby is just the push they both needed to set their differences aside and come back together. Only time will tell if it’s enough!
