Melania Trump Arrives at State of the Union Address Separately From Trump in Wake of Stormy Daniels Scandal
This is certainly a suspicious time to break with tradition, Melania Trump! The 47-year-old first lady arrived at Donald Trump’s very first State of the Union address as president on her own on Jan. 30, and in a stunning cream Dior suit, no less. Historically, the first lady has always traveled to the Capitol with her husband for the annual check-up, so this serves as a bold show of independence.
This is the first time we’ve seen Melania in public with or without her husband since New Years Eve, and it comes in the wake of In Touch’s bombshell interview with Stormy Daniels, a porn star who confirmed that she had an affair with Trump shortly after his son Barron was born. It would be easy to assume Melania decided to arrive at the event separately from her husband because she is upset with him, but her communications director Stephanie Grisham says that isn’t the case.

“[Melania is] honoring her guests for the true heroes they are,” said Grisham to CNN. Her guests to the event included a Hurricane Harvey relief organizer, a California firefighter, and a police officer that adopted a baby from an opioid-addicted couple. “In addition to holding a White House reception and photo opportunity for them, along with their friends and family, she is accompanying them to the Capitol. Once there, the first lady and Mrs. Pence will host a more intimate meet-and-greet to engage with them on a personal level prior to the speech.”
Press secretary Sarah Sanders echoed the sentiment that the separate arrival shouldn’t be looked into too deeply, saying it happened “for no reason other than she can greet the guests and he can go straight in.”

However, there’s evidence to show that Melania is, in fact, upset. First of all, she seemingly shaded her husband by leaving him out of a Twitter post commemorating the anniversary of his inauguration day. Then, a body language expert told Closer that Melania appears tense around Trump. All signs are pointing to trouble in paradise for the couple, but we’ll just have to wait and see!
