Last night’s episode of Dancing With the Stars saw contestants take inspiration from their most memorable year, and in Nick Viall’s case, his 2017 journey on The Bachelor was it!

Performing a Rumba to Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You,” the 36-year-old danced with a few different women, including partner Peta Murgatroyd, before taking off his shirt and pulling fiancée Vanessa Grimaldi onstage.

Not only did the brunette beauty show off her ballroom skills, but the routine ended with a lift and a kiss from her reality star beau. Nick and Peta finished the night with a score of 30 out of 40, earning two 8’s and two 7’s.

“I feel great. I personally feel it was our best, and we got our best scores, which was great,” the Milwaukee native told E! News after the show. “It was just so much fun, it was also great to have Vanessa at the ending. I think Peta did such a fantastic job with the choreography.”

Nick revealed that including his bride-to-be was “an obvious thing we wanted to do,” with Peta adding, “His story wouldn’t seem complete unless she was involved, so yeah, seemed fitting.”

And Vanessa definitely has a knack for it. “She’s very talented. She picks up things quicker than I do,” Nick admitted. “[That] helps me rehearse with her at home. She’s been a fantastic supporter and it’s been a really fun experience for both of us.”

Bachelor fans weren’t sure the duo would last after seeing them interact on the After the Final Rose special last month. The pair acknowledged they “have a long way to go” and are still getting to know each other.

“We have a very open relationship in terms of communication. We’re very honest with each other — I don’t sweep anything under the rug, neither does he. And it’s been hard,” Vanessa said at the time.
