Normani Stuns Jordan Chiles With Her Impressive Gymnastics Skills
In the second episode of Billboard and The Players’ Tribune’s video series Switching Stages, singer Normani and two-time Olympian Jordan Chiles trade places for a day—each stepping into the other’s world to see what it takes to shine on a completely different stage.
In the Instagram video, Chiles demonstrates the proper cartwheel technique on the balance beam after Normani shared her desire to learn how to do an arial again.
Emphasizing how challenging a cartwheel on the balance beam can be, Chiles was stunned, after Normani, who is a former gymnast, nailed the move effortlessly.
Chiles even chimed in on the post herself, praising Normani’s skills and writing, “What can’t she do?!”
The caption playfully reads, “Cartwheeling on a balance beam is not as easy as it looks… unless you’re @normani. 😮💨”.
“I actually feel inspired to get back into the gym,” Normani told Jordan after their afternoon together. “You actually inspired me to start dancing,” Jordan, who is currently competing on Dancing With the Stars, said with a smile while holding up her hand for a high five.
It was a lighthearted exchange, but it captured the essence of Switching Stages—a new collaboration between Billboard and The Players’ Tribune that explores the undeniable connection between music and sports.
“Music and sports have always shared a powerful connection—an energy that fuels artists and athletes alike to perform on the biggest stages,” said Billboard Editor-in-Chief Hannah Karp. “With Switching Stages, we’re pulling back the curtain and inviting fans to witness that magic in a completely new way.”
Jenna Klein, Global VP of Brand and Athlete Strategy at The Players’ Tribune, echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the project’s focus on authenticity.
“The Players’ Tribune exists to showcase the human side of the world’s top athletes—off the court and beyond the headlines,” she said. “This partnership with Billboard brings that same idea to life, giving fans an entertaining look at how sport and music intersect and inspire one another.”
