After filming horror film Mother!, J.Law revealed in 2017 that she would watch the Kardashians between scenes to relax. “I’ve said it before, but I got to such a low point in this film, and going into such a dark place that I eventually had to bring the Kardashians in,” she told Jimmy Fallon on his show. “I was like, I need a tent to keep away from all the extras because I didn’t know what I would do. It was just a computer that was playing the Kardashians, and had headshots, and it also had notes to me from them, that I had written. I can’t share any of them because I don’t want to offend anybody, and they’re my own personal thoughts …”

Plastic Surgery

In January 2019, MTV aired a True Life special following three Kardashian superfans. One was Sherrah, a single mom who spent $10,000 to get a Brazilian butt lift, $700 on lip injections, and planned to spend $100,000 more on a boob job, among other things, to look just like her idol. “The more I look like Kim, the better my chances are of becoming famous,” she said.

Another subject was Graysen, a man whose obsession with Kim caused some strain in his relationship. As his appearance went from more masculine to feminine, his husband became more concerned. “He’s a gay man, he’s not really attracted to a woman,” said Graysen, who also said his “life will be complete” if he could score an invite to Kris’ annual Christmas party. He also dreams about Kim and even recreated her KKW eyeshadow palette photo shoot to get her attention.

The third person featured in the special was Brittany, a woman who says “Kim’s like my soul mom.” “When I was 15 in high school, this guy started a rumor about me because I didn’t want to date him,” she explained about how her obsession began. “I looked up to her and used her as inspiration in situations like that.” To “keep up,” Brittany would throw extravagant parties and ended up losing her best friend because of her outrageous behavior.
