Patrique Fortson’s ‘Voice’ Audition Proves Jennifer Hudson’s Team Is The One To Beat!

Things are heating up on The Voice! Season 15 premiered on Monday, Sept. 24, and the competition is already intense. If you’re looking for a contestant to root for this season, look no further than 38-year-old Patrique Fortson. The soul singer from Atlanta, Georgia, wowed the coaches during his audition and even made Adam Levine and Jennifer Hudson turn around their chairs. Watch Patrique’s full audition in the video below!

Patrique explained that he started singing when he was just 4 years old, signed a record deal at age 6, and made his first album at age 7. He had a lot of success at such a young age, but “life happens and you have to put food on the table,” so he changed career paths to work at an insurance company. However, Patrique’s passion has always been singing, and he wanted to coaches to know that. He said he picked the song “Get Here” by Oleta Adams because it conveys the sense of urgency that he feels. “I need this to happen, and I need this to happen now,” he explained in his video intro.

In the end, Patrique chose to be on team #JenniferHudson because he connected more with the former American Idol star. “Patrique got some style, honey!” JHud joked after his performance. In addition to getting an artist on her team, it looks like she may have found a stylist as well!

The Voice airs every Monday and Tuesday night at 8:00 pm. on NBC, so get ready to watch Patrique’s journey and root for team Jennifer Hudson to win.
