It's back to school season. There already are errant Halloween decorations up in Target. You think you saw someone out of the corner of your eye wearing a scarf the other day. You know you're thinking it and we are too: For the love of all that is holy, when does Starbucks bring back the pumpkin spice latte? It's okay. It happens to the best and most summer-loving of us. Even in the late August/early September heat, we can't help but have a Pavlovian response for our #basic, yet #beloved, PSL.

On Aug. 28, the official Twitter page for Pumpkin Spice Latte — aka @TheRealPSL — dropped a serious hint that PSLs are heading to a Starbucks near you in the very near future. "I CAN’T TELL YOU YES I CAN NO I CAN’T STARBUCKS FACEBOOK SEPTEMBER 1ST THAT’S ALL I CAN SAY AH!!!" they tweeted. Say no more, PSL. Say no more.

Starbucks hasn't given official word yet as to when the Pumpkin Spice Latte is coming back, but according to one social-media happy barista, it may be here already, lurking in the back kitchen of S-Bux! On Aug. 17, one Starbucks sleuth tweeted out out a photo the PSL secret sauce. Too soon?

Despite the fact that there hasn't been an official release date, a few baristas revealed on reddit that Sept. 5 is the big day— so maybe that's what will be announced on Facebook on the 1st? Either way, it's soon. And either way, we're stoked.

Even though there's no copycat version that can compare to the original, McDonald's, who released their own "pumpkin spice latte" last year, is said to be coming out with their version of the PSL again this year—and even sooner than Starbucks, at that. Looks like it's a spice off!

You know where our loyalties lie though, Starbucks. Now stop teasing us and show us your PSL already. Fall in a cup with whipped cream on top? How can we possibly wait an 80-degree minute longer?
