Every Halloween when we start carving a pumpkin using a stencil, we always have the same thought, “Why is this so darn hard?” There’s a lot that goes into creating the perfect jack o’lantern, and honestly, it’s a big, messy job that most of us just aren’t cut out for. But before you throw down your carving tools in protest this year, hear us out. Maybe the problem isn’t you but with the stencils you use. There are some seriously impressive pumpkin stencils out there that look like they were chiseled by Michelangelo himself. But for us average folks who need something a bit easier, fortunately, there are simple design ideas for 2019 that literally anyone can do.
Below we created super easy pumpkin stencils that are 100 percent free for you to use. All you have to do is print them out and place the stencil up against your pumpkin (spritz it with water to keep it in place). Next, trace the pattern by poking holes into your pumpkin where the black lines are. Once you’re done with that, carve/cut around your tracing. For you visual learners out there, we carved a pumpkin using our Kim Kardashian “cry face” stencil. Watch the video below to see how simple it is to recreate.
Make sure you have the necessary carving tools on hand (we personally love these from Amazon), otherwise you’re not going to get further than disemboweling your pumpkin — which, honestly, might somehow make a disgustingly appropriate decoration, too. Whatever the case, remember: the black parts are what you’re cutting out. Good luck — you’re gonna need it.

Minions pumpkin stencil
