‘RHOC’ Star Gretchen Rossi Reveals Unborn Daughter’s Name and the Sweet Meaning Behind It
YAY! Gretchen Rossi and Slade Smiley have decided on a name for their baby daughter — Skylar Gray! The Real Housewives of Orange County alum, 41 and her longtime love, 45, recently revealed in an interview how the adorable name came about. “It is so perfect in so many ways and for so many reasons. We’ve spent so much time praying, and looking to the sky for guidance, and looking for help and support in this IVF journey, so praying to god and looking to the Sky it seems like such a perfect correlation to the journey that we’ve been on … and the name,” Gretchen’s fiancé confessed to Access Hollywood on Wednesday, April 24. Aww.
The longtime couple also revealed that Sky’s middle name is a tribute to Slade’s 18-year-old son Grayson, who is currently battling brain cancer. “He has been this angel on earth, and he is this little unbreakable man, I wrote this song and dedicated to him called ‘Unbreakable’ and what a lot of people don’t know about our embryo, and now our Skylar Gray, is that she actually self-corrected herself in the embryonic state. She went from two cells to five cells, and normally when it goes from two to five cells it’s not a genetically sound embryo … but she literally pushed that cell aside and went back to four and self-corrected herself.”
As Life & Style has previously reported, the journey to motherhood for Gretchen and Slade has not been easy. The dynamic duo has experienced an immense amount of heartbreak during the IVF process including losing 14 embryos during one round of treatment, Gretchen confessed on the Jeff Lewis Live podcast.
The duo first announced that they were expecting a bundle of joy back in December 2018. The gorgeous blonde opened up to Life & Style about her thoughts on her dream of motherhood coming true. “Although we are beyond excited about our little Christmas Miracle, we also know we are going to have a lot of sleepless nights coming up and this is going to be a huge change for us,” the Bravo personality confessed exclusively. “So we have a little anxiety about it, but we know together we can get through it because we have been unbreakable through everything thus far.” We can’t wait to meet you, Skylar Gray!
