Rihanna’s Obsession With Reality TV Is ‘Incredibly Sweet’: ‘She Genuinely Rides for These People’
Rihanna is obsessed with reality TV and doesn’t go a day without binge-watching show after show. In fact, a source exclusively tells Life & Style that reality TV serves as her number one entertainment and date night fun with partner A$AP Rocky.
“Rihanna is a huge Real Housewives fan, to the point where she reaches out to cast members, she has her favorites, and she lets them know,” the insider reveals. “She called Mary Cosby [from Real Housewives of Salt Lake City] after the episode about [son] Robert [Cosby Jr.] going to rehab aired to offer support.”
The source adds that Rihanna, 37, is “incredibly sweet” and “she doesn’t hate watch these shows.” The insider continues, “She genuinely rides for these people, at least the ones she likes.”
After the December 2024 episode aired that showed Robert, 21, admitting to his mother that he was addicted to drugs, Mary, 52, revealed that Rihanna had reached out to her to offer her support.
“She reached out to us when the show aired and told us she loved us,” Mary told Vulture about the message she received from Rihanna in January. “And then on Christmas Day, she said, ‘Merry Christmas, and I love you and Robert Jr.’ I feel like if you can reach people of that caliber, you’re doing something right, you know what I mean?”
Rihanna has grown to care about the reality stars she follows, and the insider tells Life & Style that she watches reality shows “at all times of the day.” The source says, “Whenever she has downtime or is feeling stressed, she streams a reality show, usually a Housewives, but she likes other ones too.”
Another show that Rihanna loves is Vanderpump Rules. “She was sad when they got cancelled, but she can watch old episodes if she needs a fix,” the insider shares about the reality show. It was announced in November 2024 that the show will return for season 12, though it will feature an entirely new cast.
“Bravo is her go to, sometimes she’ll even fall asleep to it, it’s her happy place,” the source continues of the “Umbrella” singer. “A$AP isn’t into it the way Rihanna is, but he doesn’t complain, he loves that it makes her happy and will watch it with her, he does his best to get into it because it makes her smile.”
Rihanna has been open about her love of reality TV in the past, and she previously revealed to E! News that Real Housewives of New York City’s Jenna Lyons is her favorite star from the franchise. “I don’t want to be generalized, but I love her!” she said.
The makeup mogul also revealed what her favorite city from the franchise is. “Always Salt Lake City,” she said during the October 2024 interview. “They had such a swinging opening season that knocked me off my feet.”
She further explained her instant fascination with RHOSLC, adding that the stars “just knocked it out of the park” from the very first episode. “You never know what’s coming with them,” Rihanna added.
