Rita is currently being slammed for her “harmful” lyrics in the pop single “Girls,” where she sings about kissing ladies when she’s had a few glasses of wine.

LGBTQ advocates called out the British beauty for exploiting bisexuality and being tone deaf. Rita quickly issued an apology, writing, “Hello everyone reading this. ‘Girls’ was written to represent my truth and is an accurate account of a very real and honest experience in my life and this is my personal journey. I am sorry how I expressed myself in my song has hurt anyone.”

Rob, 31, showed his support for Rita, 27, during the controversy by retweeting her message with six hands up emojis. As expected, fans freaked out over the social media love — and started speculating that the exes were talking again. “This is the best thing that Rob has ever done, he is showing everyone that what happens in the past stays in the past and he keeps moving forwards and support great singer like [Rita],” one follower wrote. Back in 2012, Rob seemingly accused Rita of cheating on him on the very same platform. “She cheated on me with nearly 20 dudes while we were together,” he wrote at the time. “I wonder how many she will sleep with now that we apart? But I mean 20?!!!” Rita, who went on to date Calvin Harris, responded to the allegations by claiming they were never officially together. “I never thought it was actually a relationship, in all honesty,” she explained. “I never mentally defined it as ‘boyfriend, girlfriend’.
