Sarah Hyland Thanks Her Brother for Giving Her the ‘Gift of Life’ 2 Years After Kidney Transplant

On the two-year anniversary of Sarah Hyland’s kidney transplant, she couldn’t help but give her brother, Ian Hyland, a sweet shout-out to express her gratitude for being her donor. “Two years ago today my precious little brother gave me the gift of life,” she captioned an Instagram photo posted on Thursday, September 19. “Thank you for not only giving me your f–king kidney but for everything else you do. I love you so much @thehotterhyland ❤️ happy Kidneyversary!!!!” So sweet!

Ian also said some kind things about his sister, 28. “Happy Kidneyversary to an incredible older sister and all around badass,” he wrote on IG. “I am so happy that you are living your dreams and have such an incredible year and life ahead of you. You make me so proud to be your brother. I love you, sis!”

When Sarah and I were kids we used to fight all the time – a 4 year age gap is a big one when you’re a kid. My mom always used to say that we’d be closer when we were older, and I wasn’t quite sure I believed her. She was right, of course, as parents tend to be in matters of that sort. On today, Sarah’s 27th birthday, I just want to say how proud I am of the incredible woman she has grown to become. She is smart. She is insanely talented. She is wildly independent. I am glad mom was right, and I am glad to be your brother. May your 27th be the first of many phenomenal years to come – I’ll make sure to be there with you through them all. Happy birthday, Sarah.

The Modern Family star has dealt with multiple health issues over the course of her life. However, she always pulls through. In fact, she’s all about showing off her battle scars — literally. Recently, Wells exclusively revealed to Life & Style that he does “all the cooking in the house.” He said, “I like to take her around the kitchen. It’s fun!”

The Bachelorette alum popped the question in July in the most romantic way — oceanside. “That can’t eat, can’t sleep, reach for the stars, over the fence, world series kind of stuff,” she captioned an Insta photo standing beside her bae as they showed off the ring. We’re so happy for them!
