Our deepest condolences to Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas in the wake of their loss. The celebrity couple’s Alaskan Klee Kai dog, Waldo Picasso, died after being hit by a car in New York City, according to multiple reports.

The pup passed away on Wednesday, July 24, after he was out for a walk Lower East Side neighborhood of Manhattan with a dog walker. According to reports, a pedestrian scared the dog and after he was startled, he got loose from his leash and ran into the street where he was hit. A rep for Jonas told Us Weekly that the dog’s death was “a freak accident.”

Turner, 23, and Jonas, 29, first adopted Waldo in April 2018, as a little brother to their first dog, another Alaskan Klee Kai named Porky Basquiat. Both pups were a gift to Jonas from Turner. Just one month before Waldo’s tragic death, Jonas shared a sweet photo of him, Waldo and Turner cuddling in bed together, “Nap game strong.”

After news of Waldo’s death, fans flooded the comments section of Jonas’ photo and shared their condolences with the newlyweds. “Worst feeling ever stay strong🌹,” one fan wrote, and another commented, “So sorry to hear the heartbreaking news about your dog. My heart aches for you both!”

In November 2018, Jonas opened up about being a dog parent to Porky and the late Waldo and gushed about their lavish lifestyle. “They live a pretty fabulous life,” Jonas told People at the time. “They have probably traveled more than most of my friends.”

The couple’s devastating loss comes just one month after they celebrated their second wedding ceremony in the South of France on June 29. Turner and Jonas first tied the knot in a Las Vegas wedding ceremony after the Billboard Music Awards on May 1. Their first ceremony was officiated by an Elvis Presley impersonator and the event was live-streamed on their pal, DJ Diplo’s Instagram Live.

A rep for Turner did not immediately respond to Life & Style‘s request for comment.
