Tallulah Willis Calls Out Bullies Who Commented on Her Looks When She Was Just 13
Being a celebrity in the aughts was not for the faint of heart. In addition to invasive paparazzi completely out of control, the proliferation of mean-spirited gossip blogs spared no famous person from their crosshairs.
And that included children of celebrities, as Tallulah Willis, youngest daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, unfortunately had to experience.
In a lengthy Instagram post, Tallulah shared how the bullying she endured made her hate her chin, which she believes she genetically inherited from her famous dad. Tallulah and her oldest sister Rumer, in particular, were frequent gossip blog targets due to their resemblance to Willis.
In her empowering message, the 31-year-old said that she has since grown to love her dad’s joyous features, particularly as Willis is currently battling frontotemporal dementia. She also called out the gossip blogs that often commented on her appearance.
“My Lordy! if I am NOT this man’s child,” Tallulah captioned a gallery of images that alternated between back-to-back photos of herself at an event and still images of Willis in Die Hard. “Wow this is making me so full and emotional this early Wednesday morning.”
“The face, the smile, dare I say it the chin,” she continued, specifically tagging Perez Hilton and asking if he remembered when he “bullied a 13-year-old for money.” “That made me want to end it all, is now the most precious gift I could be bestowed with.”
Tallulah continued, noting that the bullying took such a toll on her that she used to not even be able to say the word “chin” out loud.
“It was my dirty sinful malady, center stage for all the world to see. At least that’s what you guys said, over and over and over and over,” she recalled. “What a cursed child I was for inheriting this joyful, expressive feature, alive with emotion! I’m angry at the adults they planted the seeds of self hate, and I’m proud of myself for the work I’ve to rip that hate out from the roots!”
Although it does not appear as though Hilton has responded, fans took to the comments with an outpouring of support. “Apparently Daddio Bruce gave you strength of character, as well!” wrote one fan. “I’m so glad you never gave into their bullying and changed that beautiful chin!” gushed another, adding, “Willis gene strong!”
