Taylor Swift wasn’t able to make the 2024 Billboard Music Awards, but the star still had a message for her fans at the event.

“I just want to say hi and thank you to the Billboard Awards and thank you to the fans because Billboard is counting your stuff, they’re counting what you listen to, the albums that you’re passionate about,” Taylor, 35, said in a prerecorded video of her acceptance speech played on Thursday, December 12. “And so I count these as fan awards because you guys are the ones who care about our albums and come see us in concert.”

The pop star continued, “And everything that’s happened with the Eras tour and The Tortured Poets Department, I just have to say thank you. It means the world to me that you guys have embraced the things I’ve made and the fact that you care so much. This is like, the nicest early birthday present you could have given me. So thank you very much. I love it. It’s exactly what I wanted.”

Taylor wasn’t able to attend the event in person. Instead, the “So High School” singer spent her night with some of her youngest fans at a local children’s hospital in Kansas City. Videos of her time at the hospital showed her conversing with some of the patients, including a little girl who told her she was a fan of Taylor’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce.

“I like Travis now,” the girl told Taylor.

The Miss Americana star replied, “Yes, me too. That’s an absolute yes on that one.”

Another clip shared featured Taylor making a TikTok video with another patient as they sang along to her hit “Bad Blood.” Taylor dramatically flung back a curtain before stepping forward to lip-synch the words to the song.
