Less than two weeks after Tess Holliday revealed she was going on a social media cleanse amid her battle with depression, the top model, 34, popped back in on Instagram to share a thoughtful update with her fans.
“[Baby’s] first big event since my lil’ depression episode and honestly, this is the best I’ve felt in a long time,” Tess began her caption on Sunday, August 11. “I’m not sayin’ I’m better, because I’m [100 percent] not, but damn … I look good and it was so nice meeting so many fans and getting so many hugs.”
Girl, you can say that again! ICYMI: Tess absolutely slayed at Beautycon L.A. in a form-fitting, polka dot dress.
Unsurprisingly, Tess’ fans flocked to her post to share words of love, praise and encouragement. “You look great! Love that dress!!! Glad you’re feeling a little better!! You’ll get there!!” one user gushed. “I’m sorry your going through that, but so happy you got a break from it to feel good and look amazing!” added another.
A third person chimed in with, “I applaud you so much for being an inspirational for us plus size girls. It is amazing to see what you have accomplished and have shown us girls that we can do it despite our size and we should feel very comfortable in our own skin. Bless you always,” while a fourth echoed, “You looked glowing at the event. Sending you lots of love.”

Hi, it’s your fav crybaby here. It’s been a week since I’ve posted on here, or used any other social media & tbh, I’ve been tempted to not come back at all. This depression has been harder on me than ever, and I’m working through it slowly with therapy, exercise (& a lil 🌿💨 if I’m honest🤷🏻♀️). I’m grateful that my career is doing well enough that I’m able to take a step back and work on myself in a really intense & meaningful way. Social media is a great tool for connecting with others, & blah blah blah… but it’s not good for me right now. So for y’all asking, no, I’m not okay, but I’m making steps towards being ok. 💗
While we are so very happy to see Tess back on social media (for however long), we know that she’s still focusing on herself behind-the-scenes. “This depression has been harder on me than ever,” Tess wrote in her original post. “I’m working through it slowly with therapy, exercise and a lil’ [tree and smoke emoji], if I’m honest.”
Keep doing what it takes, self-care queen, and thanks for checking in!
