‘The White Lotus’ Star Aimee Lou Wood Says ‘Controversial’ Finale Left Her Feeling ‘Conflicted’
With The White Lotus season 3 finale looming, fans are dying to know how creator Mike White will manage to wrap up the storylines, but Aimee Lou Wood, who stars as astrology-loving Chelsea, admitted she was “conflicted” on the ending.
“I felt very at peace with it while I was doing it and then as time’s gone on and I’ve processed it, I don’t,” Aimee, 31, told Decider in an interview published on Sunday, April 6. “The feelings have got more complicated.”
The former Sex Education star continued, “I think because I had ‘Chelsea goggles’ on, everything was actually, in a way, simpler because I just had to fully invest in her frame of mind, which is incredibly tunnel vision. Since having separation from her, I’m like, ‘Oh, well, wait a sec. Wait a sec.’ I’m seeing things more clearly and I feel now conflicted and I think that everyone’s gonna feel quite, it’s quite controversial.”
Aimee also warned that viewers might want to have some tissues on hand because the season 3 finale is “a lot more emotional and sad” than the previous two seasons’ endings.
“I think it’s really profound,” Aimee admitted. “I think Mike — there’s some scenes in eight that I just think are so tender — and so that Mike’s kind of showing his more sensitive, tender side. Like, I feel like a lot of the final episodes of White Lotus tend to have these, you know it’s so exciting, but there’s a new layer of, kind of, I don’t know, just sensitivity and profundity.”
Despite some potential tears, Aimee added that “a lot happens” at the end of The White Lotus season 3, and she expected the ending to “surprise people.”

Aimee’s comments echoed some of her costars’ thoughts about how everything wraps up, including Leslie Bibb. Leslie, 51, who stars as Kate, told Entertainment Weekly on April 4, that it felt “more emotional.”
“I will say, it was a very different ending than we’ve ever seen of this show,” she explained to the outlet.
Parker Posey, whose Southern drawl in the role of Victoria Ratliff has gone viral, agreed with Leslie and Aimee.
“When I finished it, the last 30 pages I read so quickly because I wanted to get to the end,” Parker, 56, said about rereading the finale script ahead of shooting it. “It was like driving really fast. Because I had cared about everyone. And then as it happened and who was dying, I was really sad, and I cried. It’s really beautifully done.”
Aimee’s character, Chelsea, has quickly become one of the top characters fans fear won’t survive this season of The White Lotus. She’s already had two near-death experiences — first during a terrifying armed robbery at the hotel’s jewelry store, and then again when her boyfriend, Rick (Walton Goggins), unleashed a swarm of snakes at a tourist attraction, resulting in Chelsea getting bitten. To make matters worse, Chelsea ominously pointed out that bad things come in threes, leaving fans convinced she may have just sealed her own fate.
The White Lotus season 3 finale airs on Sunday, April 6, at 9:00 p.m. ET on HBO and Max.
