‘The White Lotus’ Cast’s Thoughts on the Season 3 Finale: ‘People Are Going to Hate Mike White’
With only two days until The White Lotus season 3 finale, fans of the hit series are dying to know how creator Mike White wraps everything up. However, some of the cast this season said that some viewers might not be happy with the ending.
“People are going to hate Mike White,” Charlotte Le Bon, who plays Chloe, joked during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter published on Wednesday, April 2.
Jon Gries, the only cast member to appear in all three seasons of The White Lotus as Greg Hunt (who now goes by Gary), promised that “whatever you think you know, you’re going to get it wrong.”
While Patrick Schwarzenegger said he’s simply “excited to watch the finale with the rest of the world because [he] actually [has] no idea what happens,” Parker Posey said she doesn’t remember the identity of the victim.
“I forgot who died. It was so stressful when I read it. The dark stuff, I blazed through,” Parker, 56, told the publication.
Natasha Rothwell, who plays Belinda Lindsey in the series, was surprised to learn how much her character had resonated with fans and said that “hotel and spa staff come up to [her] like, ‘Thank you so much for representation. We have to deal with some crazy guests, and you show how much we have to hold it in. They better not kill you!’”
As for Mike? “My hope is that it’ll feel like a cathartic sad or a satisfying sad and not a ‘What the f–k?’ sad, but people are going to have a million different opinions,” the White Lotus creator, 54, explained. “You just hope you stick the landing.”

That’s not to say the time Mike spent working on the show in season 3 hasn’t had its ups and downs. There were times on set that were less than ideal. (Parker and Sam Nivola were hit with food poisoning while filming that led to hospital visits, the Dazed and Confused star told The Standard.) However, the School of Rock actor revealed it was still hard leaving season 3 behind.
“To be honest, I’m a bit of a head case right now. I’m crying in my car. This show is my whole life, then it’s over and I’m back in my house with my dog, trying to remember who my friends are and what did I do before the show,” Mike said. “I don’t want to become one of those crazy people who’s lost the plot. I had to take these MMPI psych tests, and they were like, ‘You’ve become one standard deviation less nice than you were in 2018.’ Yep, that sounds right.”
With only one episode left, The White Lotus season 3 still has plenty of storylines to wrap up, but the finale will clock in at over an hour, which hopefully gives the characters time to solve some of their problems.
Mike told THR, “It’s an hour and a half. It’s kind of epic. As a filmmaker, it’s probably the piece of work that I’m like, ‘I can’t believe I did that.’”
The White Lotus season 3 finale airs on Sunday, April 6, at 9:00 p.m. ET on HBO and Max.
