Fans were excited to see Dolores Catania‘s new storyline on The Real Housewives of New Jersey when it premiered on Wednesday, Nov. 7. Although she still has a great relationship with her ex-husband, Frank Catania, Dolores admitted that shooting Season 9 put a great deal of stress on her relationship with the gym mogul.

“Frank and I had a big huge thing that happened. It’s really hard to deal with,” Dolores said about her new storyline at her Ladies Night Out event presented by Formaggio Cheese. On the show so far, Dolores and Frank seem to be going through a tough time when it was recently discovered that Frank had been disbarred from practicing law, and he never told his ex-wife.

“Frank didn’t follow protocol,” the Paterson, NJ, native explained on the show. “He borrowed money from his client’s trust account, something called ‘co-mingling funds,’ and as a lawyer you are not allowed to do that. Nobody lost money. Nothing was stolen but it was enough to get him disbarred.”

Dolores sadly found out about Frank’s new status as a lawyer when Andy Cohen asked her about Frank’s disbarment at the Season 8 reunion. She unknowingly told Andy that her ex-husband was still practicing law when he actually wasn’t. And in the new season, Dolores explained that she felt like a “liar” because Frank never told her about his career woes.

The reality TV star’s storyline on Season 9 seems to follow her crumbling relationship with Frank and for most people having their private lives displayed on TV, it can be too much to handle. But luckily for Dolores, she’s used to all of the negative attention that comes with being famous.

“I know what I signed up for and your life is public and I owe it to the people that watch it to be organic and to protrude everyone,” she explained to Life & Style. Hopefully Season 9 will end with Dolores and Frank repairing their broken relationship. But if there’s something that fans will learn about Dolores this year, it’s that you truly get to see who she is as a person. “You learn a lot about me,” she shared. Dolores is so strong!
