According to IMDb, Practical Magic 2 follows a “multi-generational family of witches, cursed to be loveless for centuries” who attempt to “break the spell by confronting dark secrets and sacrificing for each other.”
The Cast of ‘Practical Magic 2’: Who’s Returning?
Nicole Kidman confirmed to People that she and Sandra Bullock would both revisit their roles as Gillian and Sally Owens in the highly anticipated sequel to the 1998 comedy in a June 2024 interview.
“Yes, I will be in it. And Sandy will be in it. And that’s that,” she said at the time. “There’s a lot more to tell which is why we go, ‘OK, this is kind of interesting now to be able to do this.'”
Other cast members have yet to be announced, but the stars of the original film included Stockard Channing, Dianne Wiest, Aidan Quinn, Evan Rachel Wood and more. The soundtrack also featured songs by Stevie Nicks.
The ‘Practical Magic 2’ Teaser Is Hauntingly Enticing
On May 6, 2025, the official Warner Bros instagram account shared a short video teasing the upcoming film.
“Tooth of wolf and morning dew / something old and something new / let the spell begin to mix,” Sandra and Nicole say together in a voiceover as their words light up across the screen.
“The spell is cast. The date is set. Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman return,” the network captioned the video. “Rewatch the original #PracticalMagic now streaming on MAX.”

Fans of the original film flooded the comments section of the teaser with excitement.
One Instagram user replied, “I just SCREAMED!! This is one of my favourite movies ever,” and another added, “I’ve got my margarita glass & broom at the ready!!!!”

While Practical Magic received mixed reviews in the late ‘90s, it’s still near and dear to Sandra and Nicole’s hearts.
“’Hollywood’ made the movie and fully leaned into it,” The Blind Side actress told Rolling Stone. “They may have regretted it once we got eviscerated, but they were brave enough to make it back then, so for that I am so grateful.”
Nicole chimed in, “I just remember loving the film. I won’t be pulled off it if I love it. And I love it!”
