Where Is ‘The White Lotus’ Season 3 Filmed?
Season 3 of The White Lotus takes place in Thailand, and it was also filmed in the Asian country. While the show takes place at the fictional White Lotus resort, it was filmed at several resorts including Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui, Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas, Anantara Bophut Koh Samui Resort, Anantara Lawana Koh Samui Resort and Rosewood Phuket.
When it comes to the cities The White Lotus season 3 was filmed in, the cast got to shoot in Phuket and Bangkok.
Why Was ‘The White Lotus’ Season 3 Filmed at Multiple Resorts?
Executive producer David Bernad explained why the show had to film across various resorts during an interview with People.
“The Four Seasons in Koh Samui is an A-plus vacations destination, but it didn’t offer us certain things we needed for our show to work visually,” Bernad said in an interview published on February 21, 2025. “So we augmented some of the show using the spa at the Anantara Phuket which made more sense for filming.”
Bernad also shared that the dining scenes were shared at different resorts. The breakfast scenes were filmed at the Four Seasons, while the cast shot the dinner scenes at Rosewood Phuket because the lighting was better.
The show’s reception area and the opening scene of episode 1 were filmed at the Anantara Mai Khao, and the hotel bar was filmed at Anantara Lawana Koh Samui Resort.
‘The White Lotus’ Season 3 Is ‘Darker’ Than Previous Seasons
Ahead of the season 3 premiere in February 2025, creator Mike White teased that the Thailand-based season is “much, much darker” than the two previous seasons.
“I do feel like the other seasons were a rehearsal for this one,” he told Time in a January 2025 interview.
After years of travel, White said he learned how different vacations can cause an existential crisis. “If you’re in some place where it’s a different culture, different language, different vibe, and you’re also dealing with heavy personal things [there are moments where] you feel like, ‘Should I just walk into the water?’” he told the outlet.
White also said the season 3 is a “satirical and funny look at death and Eastern religion and spirituality,” and fans can expect to see the stars explore Eastern spirituality and wellness practices. Another popular topic is about the skepticism of how Westerners use medicine for self-care.
Who Stars on Season 3 of ‘The White Lotus’?
Carrie Coon, Walton Goggins, Parker Posey, Michelle Monaghan, Leslie Bibb and Jason Isaacs, Patrick Schwarzenegger play guests at the hotel for season 3. Tayme Thapthimthong and Lalisa Manobal play the hotel staff, while Natasha Rothwell reprises her role as spa manager Belinda from season 1 in Hawaii.
