Who Is Southern Charm’s Patricia Altschul? Meet Charleston’s Favorite Southern Socialite

Southern Charm returns for season 10 on December 5, 2024, and longtime fan favorite Patricia Altschul will be back, along with several familiar faces. With the upcoming premiere approaching, fans are clamoring to know as much as they can about Miss Pat.

Who Is Southern Charm’s Patricia Altschul?

While Patricia exudes that genteel southern charm that most people associate with cities like Charleston, she was actually born in Jacksonville, Florida. She grew up in Richmond, Virginia, and attended George Washington University where she earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Patricia later joined the staff at George Washington University and became an assistant instructor and eventual assistant professor in art history.

Before fans met Patricia on Southern Charm, she was a well-known art dealer and socialite. She married her first husband, L. Hayes Smith, in 1962, and went on to give birth to her only son, Whitney Sudler-Smith, the executive producer of Southern Charm. The couple divorced in 1979, and Miss Pat married Edward Stitt Fleming ten years later. Their marriage wasn’t meant to last, and the former couple called it quits in 1995.

Patricia wasn’t ready to give up on love yet and she married Arthur Goodhart Altschul the following year. Arthur was previously a general partner for Goldman, Sachs & Company and he later became a limited partner. Patricia went on to become a prominent figure in the upper echelon and was eventually named to the Board of the New York Historical Society and the Rockefeller family Hudson Hills Trust.

In 2008, Patricia decided to make the move to Charleston, South Carolina, and bought the Isaac Jenkins Mikell House for $4.8 million. The home is often featured on Southern Charm as Pat frequently hosts parties for the other cast members. It was previously used as a library and has a whopping 10 bedrooms within its 9,500 square feet.

How Old Is Southern Charm’s Patricia Altschul?

While Patricia is Southern Charm’s oldest cast member, fans are continually flabbergasted when they find out her age, considering how great she looks. The Bravolebrity was born on April 16, 1941, and turned 83 in 2024.

What Is Southern Charm’s Patricia Altschul’s Net Worth?

It’s no surprise that Patricia’s bank account is sufficiently padded. She has an estimated net worth of $100 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth. Along with her earnings from her time on Southern Charm, Patricia’s time as an art dealer also adds to her hefty net worth. In 2017, she wrote The Art of Southern Charm, a book detailing etiquette on everything from “hosting a memorable cocktail party, to decoding the dress code for any event, to handling a drunken boor at the dinner table, to delivering the perfectly phrased insult.”

Three years later, Miss Pat teamed up with HSN (the Home Shopping Network) to launch her very own luxury collection. When asked to describe the Patricia Altschul Home Collection With HSN, she said, “I would best describe my home décor collection as luxurious, expensive-looking, well-made, and unique, while also being accessible and affordable.”
