The singer and the relationship guru were first spotted getting cozy back on vacation together in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, in February 2018. By November, the “Havana” songstress admitted to being “in love.” It looks like it just wasn’t meant to be!

Their split comes on the heels of Camila recording and starring in the “Señorita” music video with Shawn Mendes. The two had noticeable chemistry and fans were starting to hope that they were *more* than friends. “Sooo Camila and Matthew broke up. It’s Shawn’s time now,” one person tweeted. Someone else wrote, “Find a man who looks at you like Shawn Mendes looks at Camila Cabello.”

Camila, 22, and Matthew, 32, going their separate ways comes as a shock to some people since the pop star seemed smitten with her handsome beau. The month following their Mexican vacay, she gushed about how over-the-moon she was with her personal life during “The Dan Wootton Interview” podcast in March 2018. “You know what, I am really, really happy,” the starlet said. “I feel like I’ve never been happier in my life.”

They were still going strong a few months later “He’s so similar to me,” she divulged to Marie Claire in November 2018. “In person, we’re just weird and silly and stupid together. He makes me the happiest I’ve ever been in my life.”

The British author is the young starlet’s first long-term relationship.
