Jamie Lynn Spears Shuts Down Those Rumors That ‘Zoey 101’ Ended Because Of Her Pregnancy
~ Are you ready? ~ Today marks the 14-year anniversary of when Nickelodeon’s hit TV show Zoey 101 premiered. To reflect on the iconic teen series, Jamie Lynn Spears, AKA Zoey Brooks, shared a throwback clip on Instagram and finally put the rumors to rest on why the show actually ended. It turns out, it had nothing to do with her pregnancy.
On Thursday, Jan. 10, Jamie Lynn shared a snippet of the show’s opening credits, which features “Follow Me,” the series’ theme song she sang all those years ago. “14 years later… Still a jam,” she wrote as the caption before she finally set the record straight. In hashtag style, she wrote “It did NOT end because of pregnancy. Contract was finished.” It only took over a decade, but we finally have our answer!
In case you forgot, the Nickelodeon alum got pregnant at the age of 16 with Casey Aldridge, her boyfriend at the time who was 18. The series was still on air when this happened. Not too long after news broke that she was expecting, Zoey 101 wrapped up in May 2008, which led many to think it came to an abrupt end because the show’s main star was now expecting a baby.
The actress shocked the world when she appeared on the cover of OK! Magazine for an exclusive interview. The headline read “I’m pregnant.” Around the same time, her older sister, Britney Spears, was making news for her controversial lifestyle, but news of Jamie’s pregnancy took many by surprise considering she was a young teen working for a kids’ network.
She gave birth to her daughter Maddie Briann Aldridge on June 19, 2008 and took a career hiatus afterward. Almost 10 years later, Jamie Lynn welcomed her second child, Ivey Joan Watson, with current husband, Jamie Watson.
We’re glad the 27-year-old finally addressed the rumors. Now we’re left wondering if we’ll ever see the PCA squad reunite someday. We sure hope so!
