Kylie Jenner Has Been Missing on ‘KUWTK’ This Season and We Have Some Theories
Where in the world is Kylie Jenner? Don’t worry, the cosmetics mogul hasn’t stopped posting to social media — though it is much less frequently these days. But the 20-year-old has been glaringly absent from Keeping Up With the Kardashians this season, and fans are wondering what’s up.
Kylie has been mostly MIA since the October-airing Season 14 premiere, a moment viewers thought would be perfect for her to confirm that she’s expecting her first child with boyfriend Travis Scott. However, the episode came and went and not only was there no pregnancy announcement, but the Instagram star didn’t show up!
The Kylie void has continued in recent weeks, and seven episodes into the season, we’ve yet to see the expectant mom at all. Neither she nor the E! network has provided an explanation, but we have some theories. First off, there’s a good chance that filming of her spin-off, Life of Kylie, was going on at the same time as KUWTK. If so, you know mama Kris Jenner would want her to save all of her personal drama for her own show and not share it on the family series.
Another reason could be the pregnancy itself, which has reportedly taken a toll on Kylie's self-esteem. “Her body is changing and she’s very self-conscious about it,” says a People source. “She’s always been insecure that she’s not as curvy or pretty as her sisters.”
Money might be playing a factor, as well, as TMZ reported that the new $150 million, five season KUWTK deal is mostly benefitting Kim, Kourtney, and Khloe. The oldest three sisters are said to be receiving 50 to 60 percent of the paycheck, meaning Kylie, Kendall, and Rob are largely snubbed. Maybe that’s why Kylie’s been less invested in the ensembles series?
Whatever the case, she will be showing up in the upcoming Christmas special — despite rumors to the contrary. On Oct. 16, Kris posted a photo of the family minus Kylie while they were filming the special. Though she’s not in the pic, reports say that Kylie was there, she just sat out from the ice skating activity with Olympian Nancy Kerrigan. “They taped a Christmas special at Kris’ house. Kylie was there, but didn’t ice skate. She kept in the background, but seemed great,” a source told People. “Khloé took it easy as well. It was a scheduled taping.”
