Why Joan Vassos Doesn’t Think There Can Be a ‘Paradise’ Spinoff of ‘The Golden Bachelorette’

Joan Vassos admittedly doesn’t think there’s hope for a Golden Bachelor in Paradise spinoff right now. However, there’s a good reason for her hesitation about the possibility.

“What hasn’t really surprised me, but has happened very quickly, was a lot of the men from the show have entered into relationships really quickly, which shows you the power of the show,” Joan, 61, told Decider. “They hadn’t been in relationships up until this point. Some of them have been single for a really long time. And after being on the show and having these interactions with other men in what they called their ‘free therapy sessions’ every day, they came out ready for love.”

Joan pointed out that she “set up” a few of her Golden Bachelor castmates with men from The Golden Bachelorette, too, and that “at least five” of the guys from her season are “matched up” with somebody already. “I think the pool of people ready to go on a Golden Bachelor in Paradise season may be smaller than what we were thinking,” she admitted. “I don’t know if these relationships will work out – if these are just new romances and may fizzle out – but right now, if you were going to have a Paradise soon, I think we might have a hard time finding enough participants.”

Fans have already seen Jordan Heller – who finished in fourth place on Joan’s season – spending time with Golden Bachelor runner-up Leslie Fhima. Although Leslie, 65, previously said they were “not dating,” she did admit that they were “texting” after their initial meeting.

Who Do You Want to See as the Next Golden Bachelor?

Meanwhile, Mark Anderson has been seen in several social media posts with One Tree Hill star Barbara Alyn Woods, and Jonathan Rone debuted his new girlfriend after the Men Tell All special of The Golden Bachelorette aired.

“I’ve already set three of [the men] up,” Joan told Us Weekly earlier this month. “We have love connections that are brewing right now. And I have two more that I’m looking at and working on. We have to see how that is going to unfold.”

Joan found love with Chock Chapple on The Golden Bachelorette. The two got engaged during the finale and were able to go public with their romance after it aired on November 13. Since then, they have been getting accustomed to living their life in the public eye together.

The couple confirmed that they are planning on splitting their time between Chock’s hometown in Kansas and Joan’s native Maryland. However, they’ve also been on the hunt for a place of their own in New York City, which is where they plan to spend time when they want to be alone.

For now, they’re gearing up to spend Thanksgiving in Maryland with both of their families. “Our kids have gotten to know each other a little bit over the phone and texting, but they’re finally going to get to spend four or five days together,” Joan told People earlier this month. “We can’t wait for them to be together because we feel like they are going to have a lot of fun with each other. It’s weird at this age to welcome a new stepsibling into your life and that’s what it’s going to be for them.”
