Double tap? Chris Brown did not waste any time wishing his ex-girlfriend Rihanna a happy 30th birthday on Instagram — but fans were definitely divided over the social media shoutout. The “Loyal” singer shared a photo of Rihanna as a baby along with a sweet message to celebrate the milestone, despite the fact that he pleaded guilty to assaulting the pop star in 2009.

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY @badgalriri,” he captioned the throwback photo, which he posted shortly after midnight. While some followers loved that Chris, 28, was showing his ex some love, and secretly hoping the exes would get back together, others were not impressed. “Leave her alone,” one fan wrote before another added, “All y’all acting like this dude never laid a hand on her smh, sickening.”

Another follower took the opportunity to remind Chris that Rihanna is currently dating billionaire Hassan Jameel, commenting, “She didn’t even like or comment bruv wtf are you doing she’s with another man now.”

Last year, Life & Style reported that Chris was determined to win Rihanna back. “Chris has always been in love with Rihanna, and he’s now asking around and trying to find out if she would talk to him again,” a source said. However, the insider was adamant the “Umbrella” songstress had no plans to reconcile with her ex. “If Rihanna ever spoke to Chris again, her family would lose it,” the source added. “Chris should move on.”

Instead, Rihanna is focused on her new relationship while simultaneously denying pregnancy rumors. “I actually have had the pleasure of a fluctuating body type, where one day I can literally fit into something that is bodycon, and then the next day — the next week — I need something oversized; I need a little crop here and a high-waist there to hide that part, you know?” she recently told The Cut. “I really pay attention every day when I go into the closet about what’s working for my body that morning. I feel like that’s how everyone should go after fashion because it’s an individual thing.” In other words, let it go, Chris.
