She’s so brave! On April 17, 2018, Abby Lee Millerwas rushed to the hospital after suffering from an unusual spinal infection that nearly took her life. Now, one year later, the Dance Moms star, 52, is reflecting on that fateful day. Scroll through the gallery below to see what she posted on Instagram.
“One-year-ago today, I underwent emergency surgery for an infection in my spine. This mass/tumor choking my spinal cord turned out to be Burkitt Lymphoma,” Abby explained on Instagram.

“I endured 10 rounds of chemotherapy — each lasting six days with four 24-hour bags pumping poison into my body ending with a spinal tap in three spots, plus another shot of chemo into my tailbone area up the spinal cord around my brain cavity — 10 times!” she continued.

Abby added: “Another spine surgery was needed and I have one more still to go. I struggled [through] months of physical therapy to learn to sit up again, to crawl and maybe, with a miracle, someday I’ll walk.”

The beloved reality TV star went on to reveal that she believes the medical professionals she met with prior to her spinal infection failed to diagnose the problem.

“Why didn’t the ER doctors on duty do their jobs? I came in twice with the same symptoms. Why didn’t somebody listen to me — the patient?” Abby questioned.

Fortunately, for the sake of Abby’s health and ultimately, her life, the brunette beauty was able to meet with a group of doctors who knew how to approach the issue.

“I finally found the right team, that’s why I lived to tell my story — I have a lot to say!” Abby noted, along with a sweet message to those doctors who saved her life. “Thank you to all wonderful top-notch professionals who continue to help me heal.”

As for the medical professionals who she believes failed her, Abby had some extremely choice words about whether or not they belong in their field.

“For those who missed it — misdiagnosed me — and the so-called federal ‘doctor’ who took me off medication cold turkey and the other ER ‘Doctor Hollywood’ who told me to go home and take it easy for 10 days … STOP practicing! Please.”

As it stands, Abby has yet to file a formal malpractice suit against the doctors she mentioned in her post. However, fans of the Lifetime alum commend her for sharing her story.
