If you thought Riverdale’s elaborate web of hookups was complicated now… just wait until this week’s new episode airs. In the extended promo for “The Great Escape,” everyone’s favorite South Side bad boy Joaquin DeSantos totally shares a steamy kiss with the newly incarcerated Archie Andrews. Needless to say, we have a ton of questions.

For starters, what in the name of Gryphons and Gargoyles is going on?! Up until this point in the series, fans have been given no indication that Archie is gay or bisexual. So, perhaps the kiss with Joaquin is less about romance, and more about the pair’s plans to escape (ahem, the name of the episode) the town’s corrupted juvenile detention center.

Also, we certainly can’t forget the fact that Archie has a girlfriend. Whether it’s with a boy or a girl, cheating on Veronica is so not OK. That said, Archie literally has a heart of gold. We really doubt he’d ever double-cross his raven-haired beloved.

TBH, based on the promo it looks as though Joaquin kisses Arch, not the other way around. As we all know, the Serpent dated Kevin Keller in earlier seasons, so it wouldn’t be all that surprising if he were attracted to Archie. Frankly, who isn’t attracted to him? Have you seen those oiled-up abs?

In addition to the steamy kiss, “The Great Escape” will also be dealing with Jughead’s latest obsession — Gryphons and Gargoyles. At the end of the flashback episode on Nov. 7, fans saw a completely crazed Juggy drinking the game’s Kool-Aid, literally. Of course, Betty was completely mortified as her mom, Alice Cooper, made it clear that the game doesn’t only make people go mad, it kills them.

Here’s hoping that Jug is safe from G&G’s ill fate. Then again, you never know with this show. We’ll just have to wait and see, y’all.

Be sure to catch new episodes of Riverdale every Wednesday night at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
