‘American Idol’ Contestants Laci Kaye Booth and Laine Hardy Respond to Dating Rumors
We hate to break it to you American Idol fans, but Laci Kaye Booth and Laine Hardy aren’t dating — no matter how much chemistry judge Katy Perry thinks they have! Speaking exclusively with Life & Style, the beloved contestants set the record straight about their rumored romance once and for all.
“That’s what everybody thinks!” Laci, 23, said of the relationship speculation. “I mean, we’re still five years apart, and we still have significant others,” she noted. Unfortunately, having a partner in the public eye isn’t always easy — especially when millions of viewers think they’re better off with someone else (ahem, Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper). However, Laci’s beau is super understanding.
“My boyfriend’s kinda weirded out,” the songstress admitted. “Of course, it’s gonna make him uncomfortable. It would make me uncomfortable if I was in his shoes,” Laci admitted, before adding, “But he knows Laine and he loves Laine so much.” Phew. We’re happy to hear that there’s no love triangle drama going on off the American Idol stage.
That said, Laine, 28, understands why people might think there’s something romantic going on between the talented duo. “The reason people probably think that is because we’re always together and working on stuff,” he reasoned. “Since Hollywood week, we’ve always been close together — talking to each other, getting through each round … how we were raised,” Laine continued.
“We were raised in the south,” Laci chimed in. “Our moms are really good friends. They became friends Hollywood week. They’re both southern mamas, so they really got along quick.” Well, there you have it, ladies and gentlemen. As cute as Laci and Laine would be as a couple, their relationship is strictly platonic.
That said, Laci and Laine totally kill it onstage and if nothing else, they should definitely consider working on a joint album in the future.
