Are Paul Mescal and Gracie Abrams Still Together? Updates on Their ‘Intense’ and ‘Dramatic’ Relationship
Have Paul Mescal and Gracie Abrams gone their separate ways? Fans are wondering if the couple said “good riddance” to one another after a January 2025 report from The Daily Mail claimed that they were both in tears during a night out in London. A source exclusively confirms to Life & Style whether or not the actor and singer-songwriter are still together.
Are Paul Mescal and Gracie Abrams Still Together?
Despite rumors of a split, an insider tells Life & Style that Gracie and Paul are still going strong as of February 2025.
“Paul and Gracie are not broken up, contrary to rumors,” the source says, adding that, like many couples, they have their problems — ones that are “really exacerbated” by spending so much time apart.
The insider reveals that the Gladiator II star and the “That’s So True” singer, who have maintained a fairly private romance, have secretly been off and on before.
“Their relationship is extremely intense and dramatic at times, and they definitely have taken breaks and broken up in the past,” admits the source. “But they are still together.”
The speculation about their potential breakup came after The Daily Mail reported on January 18, 2025, that Paul and Gracie were spotted in the midst of what seemed to be an emotional fight over dinner at the restaurant Jolene in Newington Green, North London, England.

“They were sat at a table opposite each other and Paul had his head in his hands as Gracie just sat there crying,” an eyewitness told the outlet. “She was crying so much that he then started to cry too.”
The source added that Gracie “eventually got up and walked out of the restaurant while they were halfway through their meal,” leaving Paul “to pay the bill before leaving shortly afterward.”
“Everyone saw it all go down, it looked like a breakup, we were just shocked at how public it all was,” the eyewitness concluded.
When Did Paul Mescal and Gracie Abrams Start Dating?
Paul and Gracie were first publicly linked in June 2024 when the pair was spotted out to dinner together in London. They were seen dining at BRAT Restaurant in London, where they shared small plates of food and appeared to be deeply engaged in a conversation, according to photos published by TMZ at the time. At one point, Paul even reached over and gently stroked Gracie’s cheek.
While this was their first public sighting together, celebrity blog DeuxMoi previously claimed in October 2023 that the Irish actor and American singer were “hanging out.” Their dinner outing in June 2024 came one week after Gracie released her second studio album, The Secret of Us, leading many fans to speculate that the album contained songs about Paul and their secret fling.
“Wait omg are the Gracie Abrams and Paul Mescal photos them rekindling after he heard her new album because I was so sure ‘Risk,’ ‘Normal thing’ and ‘Free now’ were about him after the rumours of them dating earlier,” one fan wrote on X.
Though other public sightings of Paul and Gracie have been far and few between, a source confirmed to Life & Style in August 2024 that the two were “enjoying each other’s company.”
“They like each other a lot,” the insider said, later adding, “They’ve known each other a while, but they’ve made efforts to keep it on the down-low.”
Paul, who previously dated Phoebe Bridgers from 2020 to 2022, also opened up about keeping his dating life private in an October 2024 interview with GQ.
“I’ve learned that there’s certain lines in the sand now for me that just are going to be impenetrable for the benefit of my own sanity, but also the benefit of my work,” he explained. “Because I think if you don’t have those boundaries up in terms of lines in the sand in regards to your private life, people know way too much about you and then they can’t invest in the imagined landscape of your character because they know what your favorite thing to eat for breakfast is.”
Paul continued, “I mean, the speculation has been kind of mad for the last x amount of years. I’m not comfortable inviting any access into that part of my life. How I am in my private life is so precious to me because I get very little of it, and it might be public interest, but it’s not public-obligated information.”
