‘Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?’ Cast: Meet the Stars Appearing on Travis Kelce’s New Game Show
Sometimes, even a fifth grader can’t save you … but can a celebrity? Amazon Prime Video’s spinoff of the hit 2000s game show Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?, called Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?, will see contestants rely on a classroom full of celebs to help them answer 11 questions on a range of subjects from elementary-level curriculum. The winner will take home a $100,000 prize. The cast of stars was announced in May 2024, but who are the famous faces flexing their grade school knowledge?
What Is Travis Kelce’s Role on ‘Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?’
Prime Video announced in April 2024 that Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce would make his game show hosting debut on Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?.
“I grew up loving game shows, and I’m excited to be following in the footsteps of so many TV icons by hosting my very first one with Are You Smarter than a Celebrity,” the NFL star said in a statement at the time. “The original show (Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?) is a great success, so to be bringing a new format with everyone’s favorite celebrities to the screen, will definitely be entertaining. I’m just happy to be on the hosting side of the equation here and excited to see how these famous faces keep up.”
Travis told TODAY.com on October 13, 2024, that although he’s new to being a TV host, Amazon made him feel “comfortable from the jump” and the role “felt pretty natural.”
“We ran through the show so many times to where I started to really grasp it and make it my own,” he continued. “We had so many unbelievable guests and celebrities, familiar faces, however you want to call them — it was just so genuine and so much fun to be a part of. Everybody was just so fun to work with that it didn’t really feel like work.”
Who Is in the Cast of ‘Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?’
The cast of Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? will include a mix of actors, reality stars, comedians, NFL stars and more. Stand-up comedian Nikki Glaser and Nailed It! host Nicole Byer will appear, as well as comedian Natasha Leggero, Loot star Ron Funches, sports analyst Ryan Fitzpatrick, former wide receiver Chad Ochocinco Johnson, reality star Garcelle Beauvais, Vanderpump Rules star Lala Kent, producer Lilly Singh and podcast host Sophia Stallone.
But what about Travis’ family members? Many fans have expressed interest in seeing brother Jason Kelce, dad Ed Kelce, mom Donna Kelce, sister-in-law Kylie Kelce and girlfriend Taylor Swift join the cast. While they haven’t been confirmed as stars of the show, Travis addressed fans’ hope in his interview with TODAY.com.
“I would love to get somebody in my family up there,” he said. “Either my dad or my brother, because it can get a little embarrassing if you don’t know, like, the simplest of questions.”
Though Travis said he doesn’t want to put his mom on the spot, he wouldn’t have any issue with his dad or brother being in the hot seat.
“I think my dad would do pretty good,” the tight end continued. “Jason … He’s got some pretty good trivia knowledge, so I think he’d fare pretty good as well.”
When Does ‘Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?’ Premiere?
The first three episodes of Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? are set to premiere on Prime Video on October 16, 2024, followed by new episodes each week.
