They’re Instagram official, y’all! After reports surfaced on May 21 that Ariana Grande and SNL star Pete Davidson are rumored to be dating, the pair has seemingly confirmed their budding romance — using Harry Potter puns, no less.
On May 30, the 24-year-old comedian took to social media to share a picture of himself alongside the “No Tears Left To Cry” songstress. Appropriately captioning the snapshot, “The Chamber of Secrets has been opened,” the couple is clearly no longer keeping things low-key. Beyond that, Ariana kept up with the HP tête-à-tête commenting, “u tryna slytherin (i’m deleting my account now).”
If that wasn’t enough confirmation, Ariana took to Instagram on May 31 to share a more intimate photo of the two. “I thought u into my life. Woah! Look at my mind,” the 24-year-old captioned the post. So, yeah. Clearly, they’re smitten!
Hopefully, these adorable pictures will put an end to the extreme backlash the two faced earlier in the month because, TBH, fans have been up in arms ever since dating rumors surfaced. That's because Ariana recently announced her split from boyfriend of almost two years, Mac Miller, and days later Pete broke up with his longtime girlfriend (and Larry David's daughter) Cazzie David, who he had been with for over two years. Though the initial report claimed that the relationship is new and "very casual," fans think there might have been some shadiness going on.
"This was taken literally two weeks ago… you mean to tell me in that time he has dumped Cazzie and is already seeing Ariana b—h no I dont think so," said a fan alongside a recent cuddly photo of Pete and Cazzie. Then, the fan added, "Omg I've been informed they really did break up. This is messy… I smell cheaters." "Did he leave you for Ariana?" another fan asked Cazzie on the same photo. Fans flooded Mac's Instagram with support, writing, "stay strong," and "sending my love," with one fan writing "Ari totally cheated on him with that SNL guy." Yikes.
Ari first met Pete in 2016 when she appeard on SNL, and Pete joined her for the opening monologue where she joked about needing a "real adult scandal" so people would stop thinking of her as a little kid. Well heck, maybe this is it!
Snagging yourself a member of the Saturday Night Live team seems like the trendy new thing to do. Scarlett Johansson shocked the world by walking the red carpet with new man Colin Jost who hosts the Weekend Update segment, and everyone heard about Ben Affleck dating Lindsay Shookus, a writer for the show. Let's just hope that Pete and Ari really did just start dating after their breakups, and not before.
