Before reports of an affair between Aubrey O'Day and Donald Trump Jr. made headlines, we thought Paul "Pauly D" DelVecchio was Aubrey's most famous ex. Pauly and Aubrey met while filming the reality show Famously Single, and Aubrey was ready to make an honest man out of the Jersey Shore star. So what happened between Aubrey O'Day and Pauly D to ruin the reality romance?

Well, it all came crashing down in July, reportedly because Pauly wasn't onboard with Aubrey's marriage timeline. "They broke up," a source told E! News at the time. "Pauly is the one that broke up with Aubrey. She was pressuring him to get a ring, and he was not there yet. They are done. He hopes to remain friends with her, [but] she is pretty upset." ("It was a long time coming," an insider told People of the couple's split. "They were always on and off. But it seems like it's done for good now.")

The prior month, the Danity Kane singer even admitted she was pressuring Pauly to meet her at the altar. "I want a ring, like, ASAP!" she told E! News. "I think I put enough pressure for that to be going down sooner not later … I'm looking for something serious, and I'm ready to move to the next chapter in my life where I'm a wife and a mom and to experience other things than what I've been doing my entire career. He knows that."

And for his part, Pauly even seemed ready for that level of commitment. (He had even called Aubrey his "wife" on Instagram!) "We're looking forward to the next steps," he told E!. "She's the one for me, so I'm looking forward to the next steps and waiting for the right moment to make all that happen."

It wasn't the first time the couple had trouble getting on the same page, though. As we witnessed on Famously Single, Pauly often made light of their relationship, much to Aubrey's dismay. "I'm probably a lot for him to handle," she speculated in an interview on the show. "He won't ever say that to me, but I think the jokes are a safe place for him to exist with me because I need a lot. I need depth, I need conversation, I need a lot of things to be satisfied as a woman, and I think maybe he's nervous about that."

So we're calling it. Cause of relationship death: cold feet, complicated by underlying communication issues.
