Awkward! Clay Harbor admitted on the Tuesday, August 6, episode of Bachelor in Paradise that he never loved his ex Angela Amezcua. The former flames broke up in April after eight months together. At the time, it seemed like they were super serious, but the athlete cleared up how he was feeling while speaking to Nicole Lopez-Alvar.

“In my whole last relationship, I never said I love you,” the 32-year-old said. “I never said it, no. I care about her a lot and stuff. But I mean, to me, that is a really strong word. If I love you, you’re my wife.” The brunette beauty, 26, revealed her last relationship was in “late 2016” and “we weren’t in love.” However, Nicole is hopeful that she could find love in Mexico.

Annaliese Puccini is friendly with Angela, 29, and she decided to confront Clay about his decision to go on the hit ABC show. “He is going to marry her, but he needs to figure himself out,” Annaliese said in her confessional. “Jumping into a relationship in Paradise is not where you find yourself.”

Then, the blonde beauty went up to Clay and bluntly asked him about his intentions. “I am friends with Angela. My biggest issue is, you know, how much you’re literally crushing her being here,” she said. “I don’t know how you can even walk onto the beach. You guys were looking at houses, talking about babies.”

But the handsome hunk set the record straight. “We broke up three months ago. We had a discussion,” he admitted. “Honestly, you have very falsified information. Me and Angela have been done for months, and I am looking forward to building a relationship. What reasons do you think I am here for?” Fortunately, Annaliese decided to back off and let Clay be.

Later on, Clay asked Nicole on a date, and it seemed like they hit it off. “Being with Nicole here tonight, it makes me very hopeful,” he said. “She is fun and absolutely gorgeous.”

The Chicago native also got candid with Nicole about why things didn’t work out with his ex. “I am going to be honest. Sometimes it’s hard, but I think it’s better than staying in something you don’t think is going to work in the long run,” he said. “I am 100 percent over it. If I wasn’t over it, I wouldn’t be here.” Afterward, the duo shared a romantic kiss with fireworks in the background.

Will Clay find his soulmate in Paradise? Only time will tell!
