If you’ve been alive and kicking these last few years, you’ve probably heard about the keto diet. The low-carb, high-fat lifestyle has been sweeping through the wellness community and changing people’s lives left and right — you might know someone who has lost major poundage with keto, or maybe you’ve even jumped on the bandwagon yourself.
Either way, you’d be in great company. Several of our favorite famous folks have taken a liking to the keto lifestyle and found it helps keeps them feeling healthy, energized and satiated. The trick, of course, is getting enough protein and healthy fats throughout the day but, as these celebs will probably tell you, a little goes a long way.
One of the biggest celebrity advocates of the low-carb, high-fat life is Kourtney Kardashian. The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star first shared her success with the diet on her app in 2017 — but since then, she has used the eating technique to curb sugar cravings and “detox” her organs multiple times.
“In my experience, I’ve found the best method to train my body to curb sugar cravings, burn fat and kick-start weight loss is by sticking to a keto diet,” the mother of three revealed in a June 2019 blog post on her lifestyle site, Poosh. “My body never looked better.”
When the reality starlet plans out her keto meals, she tries to “eat minimal carbs and no grains, beans or legumes” while “focusing on fresh vegetables and lean proteins.” She also tries to stick to a strict eating schedule. “I eat three meals a day with no snacking in between if possible,” she explained.
Kourt has a really great hack for cravings — especially when your non-keto friends are around and indulging. “So many cravings are just your body asking you to hydrate or get some minerals,” she noted, adding that making tea during these times kills two birds with one stone. The action keeps your hands and mouth busy while also hydrating you. Sounds like a win-win.
