'Chemical Hearts' With Lili Reinhart: Cast, Trailer, Release Date and More

Move over, Betty Cooper! It’s time for fans to see Lili Reinhart show off her acting chops outside of Riverdale. The 23-year-old plays Grace Town in the upcoming Richard Tanne film Chemical Hearts. What is Chemical Hearts about?

Chemical Hearts is based on a 2016 Krystal Sutherland novel of the same name. According to the official description, both the movie and book follow hopeless romantic Henry Page (played by Euphoria’s Austin Abrams) on his quest to fall in love for the first time. However, he just can’t seem to meet the right girl. So, instead, he focuses on his position as his school’s newspaper editor.

“Then Grace Town walks into his first period class on the third Tuesday of senior year and he knows everything’s about to change,” the excerpt reads. “Grace isn’t who Henry pictured as his dream girl — she walks with a cane, wears oversized boys’ clothes and rarely seems to shower. Yet, when Grace and Henry are both chosen to edit the school paper, he quickly finds himself falling for her. It’s obvious there’s something broken about Grace, and Henry wants nothing more than to help her put the pieces back together again.”

As for what you can expect from Lili? She’s definitely bringing her A-game. “People haven’t really seen what I’m fully capable of,” the Ohio native told Entertainment Weekly of her role and position as executive producer. “Maybe they only see me as being on a commercial television show, and I hope that this shows people that my heart is really in film. I want people to see me as something other than Betty Cooper. It’s hard to break out of that mold.”

When does Chemical Hearts come out and how can you watch it?

Chemical Hearts will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video on Friday, August 21. Additionally, if you live in select cities — i.e. Los Angeles, Dallas, Philadelphia and more — you can attend a special drive-in screening.
