Chiefs Owner Clark Hunt Details Taylor Swift’s Impact on Team’s Popularity Amid Travis Kelce Romance
Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Kent detailed how Taylor Swift’s relationship with Travis Kelce has increased the team’s popularity.
“I think indirectly the NFL has seen an impact,” Clark, 59, said about Taylor’s effect on the franchise during a Thursday, February 6, interview with CNBC Sport in New Orleans. “Certainly our fan base took a big leap forward last year, particularly with female [fans] — specifically young female fans.”
Clark went on to note that the increase in women fans for the Chiefs was likely due to Taylor, 35, and he had the statistics to prove that their fanbase is expanding. “I think we had something, like, a 30 percent growth in our fan base, which is pretty significant even for a team that won the Super Bowl,” he said. “So you definitely have to give Taylor a little bit of credit for that.”
“We still get a lot of eyeballs this year,” he continued of their growing fanbase, referencing the team’s success in recent years. “We’ve had several games [that] have broken records and I think Taylor’s a little bit a part of that.”
Taylor has been a regular at Chiefs games ever since she confirmed her relationship with Travis, 35, in September 2023. While she attended several games that didn’t conflict with her Eras tour, the “Shake It Off” singer was by Travis’ side when the Chiefs won the Super Bowl against the San Francisco 49ers in 2024.
She will also be by her boyfriend’s side when the Chiefs play against the Philadelphia Eagles during Super Bowl LIX on Sunday, February 9, at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Not only did Clark reflect on Taylor’s impact on the team, but his daughter Gracie Hunt has also praised the “Enchanted” singer for what she has done for the Chiefs.
“She is absolutely incredible, as the whole world knows, and it’s been such a special time to have her be a part of Chiefs Kingdom,” Gracie, 25, told People about Taylor in a January 16 interview. “She is just as beautiful and wonderful as you’d ever imagine her to be, so smart and intelligent.”
Gracie added, “It’s just been so special to have her be a part of Chiefs Kingdom.”
The upcoming Super Bowl means a lot for the Chiefs, who are aiming to become the first team in NFL history to win three consecutive championship games. However, others are speculating that it might be just as important for Taylor and Travis.
“Everyone in Travis and Taylor’s world assumes an engagement is coming,” an insider exclusively told Life & Style about the couple. “In fact, a lot of people find it pretty extraordinary that it hasn’t happened already.”
The source added that Travis is confident about his future with the “Now That We Don’t Talk” singer. “He is so open about Taylor being The One,” the insider continued. “He wants to spend the rest of his life with her and vice versa.”
When it comes to asking for her hand in marriage, the source explained that Travis “wants to knock it out of the park.”
