Christina Haack Reveals Estranged Husband Josh Hall Was ‘All About’ Her Taking His Last Name

Christina Haack (formerly Hall) revealed for the first time how estranged husband Josh Hall wanted her to take his last name and change it from El Moussa prior to their 2021 marriage

“This is a competition, and we have to pull out all the stops. Whatever it takes to win, we do it! Halls rule,” Josh, 44, told Christina, 41, during the series premiere of HGTV’s The Flip Off on Wednesday, January 29. “You are supposed to say it with me or repeat it or something that shows that you are with me,” he added when she didn’t show enough passion.

When Josh remarked to Christina that she was “a Hall now,” he snarked, “Don’t get confused in this competition about what your last name is.”

“When I met Josh, my name was still Christina El Moussa on everything,” the Christina on the Coast star explained in a confessional. “Josh did not like that and he was all about me becoming a Hall.”

The duo married in October 2021 after six months of dating. Josh filed for divorce from Christina in July 2024 after two years of marriage, and she followed suit with her own divorce petition. Josh and Christina are still embroiled in a bitter divorce battle that is heading to court.

“Josh knows that Tarek and I have a history,” Christina continued following an on-camera spat. “I am sure some of it is the stress of the competition.”

The California native was married to first ex-husband Tarek El Moussa, 43, from 2009 through 2018. The duo continued to costar in HGTV’s Flip or Flop following their divorce. The show ran from 2013 through 2022.

Christina briefly changed her surname to Anstead during her second marriage to Ant Anstead. The pair wed in December 2018 and split in September 2020.

The Flip Off‘s concept pitted Tarek and second wife Heather Rae El Moussa (née Young) against Christina and Josh to see which couple could purchase, renovate and flip a home for the highest profit.

Josh only appeared in the first episode of The Flip Off, as their divorce filings coincided with the show’s production schedule.

After the split, Christina was paired with industry professionals to help her in the competition against Tarek and Heather, 37. In a show of how much they’ve repaired their relationship since their split, Ant, 45, even makes a cameo with Christina.

The tension between Christina and Josh was evident in The Flip Off‘s premiere. In one scene, he called his then-wife “rude” after she explained she isn’t as vocal on camera as he hoped.

“The amount of s–t you say where I am like, ‘I wish she would shut up already?’” Josh snapped at Christina. “We have been together long enough now — years — and you can’t figure me out by now? It is going to be a rough run. My wife is pissing me off right now.”

Christina revealed to fans that she had her maiden name legally restored and was no longer a Hall. “Officially a Haack,” she wrote alongside a photo of the legal paperwork on January 25. “Identifying as only married twice. Time to update the Wikipedia,” the Beach Bargains star added with a subtle swipe about her marriage to Josh.

The Flip or Flip alum made it clear she was thrilled Josh was no longer part of the show following their split.

“He’d always get upset with me, like, ‘Oh, my gosh, you did this,’ or ‘You did that.’ And I’m like, ‘I’m making a TV show,’” Christina said during an interview with Us Weekly published on January 9. “Ultimately, it was better that he left after episode 1 because the show would’ve sucked.”

“This isn’t Josh’s show. No one’s going to miss that he’s not in it,” Christina added. “Josh is not a TV host, he’s not a house flipper, he’s not a designer. He was just my husband in it. With Tarek, we built everything together, and I still have respect for him. I have no respect for Josh.”
