Christina Hall Reveals How She Got ‘Back on Track’ With Ex Ant Anstead Following Josh Hall Split

Christina Hall is opening up about how her split from estranged husband Josh Hall helped her and ex-husband Ant Anstead get back to being friends.

“When Josh and I split up, I hadn’t really talked to Ant in years,” the Christina on the Coast star, 41, told Us Weekly in an interview published on Thursday, January 9.

Before Christina married Josh, 44, in 2022, she was with Ant, 45, from 2018 to 2020. The former couple welcomed son Hudson in 2019. Their divorce was finalized in June 2021, and it was reported one month later that Christina had begun dating Josh.

“The whole time I was with Josh, I would worry [thinking about how] Hudson’s sports [games] are coming up, we’re going to have to be on the field together, how’s Josh going to handle it?” Christina continued.

Life & Style confirmed in July 2024 that Christina and Josh had both filed for divorce after two years of marriage. The Flip or Flip star told Us Weekly that Ant was a source of comfort following their split.

“[After we broke up] I was dropping Hudson off at Ant’s house, and he gave me a big hug and was like, ‘I’m here for you and I’m so sorry you’re going through this,’” she explained. “He said, ‘I feel like Josh is the source of the problem [and why] I couldn’t communicate.’ Now we’re back on track.”

Christina and Ant’s 2020 divorce led to a heated custody battle that left a strain on their relationship as friends and coparents. Ant filed for full custody of Hudson in April 2022, claiming that his ex was not a regular presence in their son’s life, Life & Style confirmed at the time.

“What Ant is doing deeply saddens me,” Christina told Life & Style in a statement. “If this was really about Hudson, as he says, this should have been handled privately.”

Ant’s request for custody was denied. Eight months later, the former spouses reached a custody agreement where they would “continue to have joint legal and joint physical custody” as they originally agreed in June 2021.

A source later told Life & Style amid Christina’s split from Josh that Ant’s girlfriend, Renée Zellweger, played a major role in getting the exes back to a good place.

“She convinced Ant it’s silly to hold grudges and hated seeing him so worked up. Things are better now. She’s extended the olive branch to Christina, too, and looking forward to a drama-free holiday season,” the insider said in October 2024.

Christina and Ant appear to be on great terms now — so much so that he will be appearing on her upcoming HGTV series, The Flip Off, which also stars Christina’s first ex-husband, Tarek El Moussa, and his wife, Heather Rae El Moussa. Ant was spotted filming the series in November 2024. However, a source told People at the time that the motor specialist would not be replacing Josh as “Christina’s partner” on the home improvement series.

A source told Us Weekly in July that production on The Flip Off was “moving forward” without Josh amid his split from Christina.

In her interview with the publication on Thursday, Christina claimed that Josh was “very hard to film with” while he was working on the show prior to their separation.

“He’d always get upset with me, like, ‘Oh, my gosh, you did this,’ or ‘You did that.’ And I’m like, ‘I’m making a TV show,’” she said. “Ultimately, it was better that he left after episode 1 because the show would’ve sucked.”
